The Word of God: The Primary Way God Speaks to Us

The Word of God: The Primary Way God Speaks to Us

Episode 1
12:44

Why do so many Christians feel like they’re not hearing from God? The answer might surprise you: it’s not that God isn’t speaking—it’s that we don’t recognise His voice when He does.
In this powerful first episode of our series “How to Hear the Voice of God,” Samuel Daniels tackles one of the most crucial questions for believers entering 2026: How can we discern God’s voice clearly in our lives?
Drawing from the biblical account of young Samuel in the temple, we discover that the problem isn’t our spiritual hearing—it’s our ability to identify the source. Samuel heard God’s voice three times but kept mistaking it for Eli. Similarly, we often hear God speaking into our situations, relationships, and decisions, but we misattribute His voice to our own thoughts, other people’s opinions, or mere coincidence.
In This Episode, You’ll Discover:

Why hearing God’s voice is critical for achieving your purpose and experiencing breakthrough in 2026
The six primary ways God speaks to us (and why Scripture is the most accessible)
How God has exalted His Word even above His own name—and what that means for you
The “Samuel Principle”: hearing God without recognizing Him
The crucial difference between eisegesis (reading INTO the Bible) and exegesis (letting the Bible speak for itself)
The transformative concept of logos vs. rhema—from ice to water
Why reading the Bible prayerfully with the Holy Spirit as your guide changes everything
Practical steps to position yourself to hear God’s specific message for your situation

The Ice-to-Water Revelation
One of the most profound insights in this episode is the logos-to-rhema principle. The logos (written Word) is like ice—it contains everything you need but isn’t immediately consumable. The Holy Spirit is the heat that melts the ice, transforming it into rhema (the activated Word)—refreshing water that quenches your spiritual thirst and provides specific direction for your circumstances.
Why This Matters Now
Perhaps the reason many of us haven’t achieved our aims or experienced success in critical areas isn’t due to lack of prayer or effort. It’s because we’ve operated on our own perception and understanding, missing the divine instructions that could have changed everything. Second Timothy 3:16-17 reminds us that all Scripture is God-breathed and useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness.
This episode provides a biblical foundation for hearing God’s authoritative voice through His Word, avoiding the common pitfalls of taking verses out of context, and developing the spiritual sensitivity to recognise when the Holy Spirit activates Scripture for your specific need.
What’s Coming Next

Whether you’re facing decisions about health, finances, relationships, career, or life purpose, this episode will equip you to hear God clearly through the most accessible channel He’s provided—His Word.

Episode Transcript:

So recently, I did a video about the wise men, and I said that God had promised that if we drift from the way, we will hear a sound behind us. And so God will speak to us, to prompt us, give us a nod when we drift from the way. And a couple of people came and asked him, how can they hear the voice of God? Because it's important you hear the sound. If you don't know that the sound you are hearing is God's voice, then you'll miss it. And I think that's quite a very important question. So I decided to do a video on how to hear the voice of God. This is quite a long video, and so I'm gonna do it in episodes. So this is the first of the series, How to Hear the Voice of God. I believe that in 2026, hearing the voice of God is important for us to be able to do the things God wants us to do. Perhaps the reason why many of us haven't been very successful in life, or we haven't been able to achieve our aim, is because we did things by ourselves, and we, as much as we brought God in and we prayed, we didn't hear God speaking into our situation. And so we did things based on our own perception, our own intuition, and our own understanding. Hearing God's Voice, 2026, is critical for us to go where God wants us to go, and do the things God wants us to do. So this is the first of hearing the voice of God. Well, God is not stagnant. God is a dynamic God. God is not static. He's dynamic. He moves. So he changes. So this is just my experience, how I've come to know God. And of course, the list is not exhaustive. I mean, people can talk about different ways to hear God's voice. But from where I stand, this is how I think we can hear God's voice. Godʼs Diverse Communication Now, we can hear God's voice through one different way. God decides to speak to us in diverse ways. And so, He can speak to us in one way today, and tomorrow, He will speak to us in another way. But from where I stand, we can hear God's voice through one of these ways. The first way to hear God's voice is by His Word, the Bible. God can speak to us using the Bible. And He does speak to us and not using the Bible. The second way that God speaks to us is by the still small voice. I will give episodes about all these. And the third way that God speaks to us is by dreams. God speaks to us through dreams. The fourth is by visions. God speaks to us through visions. So we can have visions and God will speak to us. The fifth is by the prophetic word. God can use a prophet to speak to us about things that he wants us to do. Another way that God can speak to us is through the audible voice of God. Where you hear an audible voice and God is speaking to you through that audible voice. God can speak to us combining these ways. The Bible, visions, He can use the still small voice. All these ways to talk to us. Godʼs Word: The Bible For now, I'm going to talk about how God speaks to us through His Word. The Bible is a very great book. It's an awesome book. I believe it's the Word of God. It's an inherent and authoritative Word of God. I believe the Bible can be trusted. I believe it can be followed. Many people talk about the Bible, even atheists, agnostics, naturalists, Hindus, Buddhists, many people of different religion, different belief systems agree. The Bible has verifiable historical facts. God speaks to us using the Word. I believe that's the commonest word that God speaks to us by the Word. The Word of God is accessible. The Word of God is with us. So we can simply take it every day and read it. By so doing, we will hear God's voice for us. We will hear God's mind for us, for our life. We will hear what God wants to say. In the Book of Psalm 138 verse 2, the Bible has said that God has lifted His Word above His name. The name of the Lord, the Bible says, is a strong tower. The righteous runs to it and are saved. And if God has lifted His Word above His name, that tells you that His Word must take preeminence. What that means is that if there is a situation when the Word of God and the name of God must be prioritized, God has said we should take His Word above His name. We should prioritize His Word above His name. In the Book of Hebrews chapter 1 verse 1 to 2, in the time past, God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets. But in these days, He speaks to us by His Son. What this means is that God speaks to us through Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is God's message to the world. In the Book of John 1 verse 1, in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Christ, the Word, was in the beginning, and He is God. So God has revealed Himself to us through His Son, the Christ. Who is the Word? So the Word of God is the inherent, the authoritative Word of God. Discernment in Hearing God goes to Samuel, and for three times, God came calling, but a young man thought it was Eli. So he went all the three times that he heard God call, he went to his father Eli to ask if he was calling, and Eli said he wasn't calling. Eli perceived it was God that was calling the young man. So he said if he comes calling, say, Father, speak for your servant here. The problem was not that Samuel didn't hear God's voice. He heard a voice calling. The problem was that he thought it was Eli. And I believe many of us that has been our problem. It's not that we don't hear God. We hear God all right. But we misconstrue God's voice to the voice of someone else. And so many of us have heard God speak to us about our situation, about our lives, about the things that we are doing. But sadly enough, we have misconstrue that voice to be someone else. And so we don't action on the voice as we should, because we thought it was our brother, our sister, our husband, our friend. We didn't know it was God speaking. God can speak to us in the voice of another person. Samuel was so sure he heard Eli, but it was God that was speaking. The Book of Second Timothy 3, 16-17, All scripture is God's breath and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, training in righteousness. So all scripture is God's breath. God breathes scripture and the men have already done. So if we want to know what God is saying about a situation, about anything at all, you look at the Bible verses that talks about that, to understand what God is saying. Interpreting Scripture Correctly But it's important to read the Bible well. Reading the Bible in the right manner will help us understand what God is saying. Many have taken things out of context. Many of their so-called sets out there came out because someone took the Bible out of context and began to work with it. So reading the Bible in the right way is important for us to understand what God is saying, not just taking a verse from the Bible and running with it. You read the Bible, first of all, you look at the text before where you are reading. As if you are reading Matthew chapter 5, you should first of all understand what chapter 4 is saying because chapter 4 came before chapter 5. It will give you an idea of the background of what is being said before the chapter you want to read. After you've read where you want to read, you should also read the verses after that. So you don't just read a verse and start running with it. You read the verse before and the verses after to understand the text in a broader context. Because taking the Bible out of context will mean something entirely different. Many of us take our own word and we put God's word on it. So we let the Bible speak to us. We are exegesis instead of exegesis. Exegesis is when you speak into the Bible, you read into the Bible, you put your word on the Bible and you let the Bible educate what you want to say. But exegesis is when you let the Bible speak for itself. The Bible can speak for itself. God's word is authoritative, it's powerful, it can speak for itself. If you want to know what God is saying about a situation, look at what the Bible is saying about that situation. Look at verses in the Bible that talks about that. As far as I want to hear God's voice for your health, you look at Bible verses on health, and you understand what God is saying about your health. You understand how God is saying about your finances. You look at the Bible verses that talks about finances to understand what God is saying about your finances. And as you read, as you read the Bible, God will activate a test, and that will become your message. That is called Rehma Word. Logos and Rhema We have the Logos, which is the written word, and we have the Rehma Word, which is the spoken word. Now, the Logos, the written word, is what you are reading, the pages of the Bible that you read. It's a verse that you read, the chapter that you read, the book that you read. Now, when you read that chapter, when you read that verse, God can activate that verse and it will become your verse. That becomes your Rehma Word. And I stand this as, the locus is like ice. You know, no matter how thirsty you are, ice will not be helpful. If you are very thirsty and you are giving ice, ice block, it will not be helpful because you cannot chew ice block. You cannot drink ice block. And so, although you are thirsty, ice block will not be helpful. But once you melt ice, it becomes liquid, it becomes water. That is what you can drink. So ice, when it's melted, becomes water. That is what you actually need. The process of melting the ice to form water is heat. When you apply heat to the ice, it melts. So the Logos, the written word, is like ice. When you apply heat, the heat is the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit can impress on the world. The Holy Spirit can activate the world and it will become liquid. It will become what you need. It will become your remote world. So you see ice as the Logos word, the written word. The Holy Spirit is the heat that is applied on the eyes and it melts the eyes. So the eyes, when it's melted, it becomes the Rima, which is the liquid which you need, which you can drink, which is healthful, which can quench your thirst. The Bible says that the letter killeth, but the Spirit gives life. The letter, which is the written word, can kill. Many have read the Bible and have developed all kinds of belief systems from the Bible and they read a verse from the Bible. That can kill. But when the Holy Spirit activate a word, activate a verse to you, that becomes your realm of word. But understand what God is saying about a situation. You first take the Bible, you look for verses or chapters that talks about that situation. As you read the verses about that theme, the Holy Spirit will activate a verse and that becomes your verse, will become your message. And if you act, if you move with that, there will be results. In the Book of 1 Samuel 3 verse 21, the Lord continued to appear at Shilu, and there he revealed himself to Samuel by the Word of the Lord. God revealed himself to Samuel by the Word of God. God can reveal himself to us by the Word. Prayerful Scripture Reading The Word of God must be read prayerfully. He let the Holy Spirit lead you in reading the Word. The thing is that, you see, the Bible is a manual of life. When God created the heavens and the earth, he gave us a manual, which is the Bible. That guides us as to how we should go about doing things. Some scientists have been able to do inventions because they understood some biblical concept, some biblical principles, and they used that and through that they got their breakthroughs. People have used the Bible to develop scientific concept, to develop economic ideas and worldview. It's a book of life. It's a book that has life. It's a book that contains the mind of God. However, it must be read prayerfully. What that means is that you must read the Bible being guided. The Holy Spirit inspired the man of old to write the Bible. If you want to understand a book, the best way to understand a book is let the author explain to you what he meant when he said what. Because sometimes authors can hide their ideas in certain phrases. And you may not understand it from his perspective, but the Holy Spirit inspired the man of old to write the Bible. And if you want to understand it from his perspective, you must let the Holy Spirit guide us when we are reading the Bible. The Bible is God's word to the world, it is God's word to our situation, and it is God's message to us directly. And it's for us to read and understand and appreciate all of the same about our situation. The next thing I will talk about in my next video will be The Still Small Voice, how God speaks to us through The Still Small Voice. Watch out for the next episode. Catch you.
